On our journey towards a more healthy lifestyle, we stumbled upon the Weston A. Price Foundation and their research on raw milk. We became curious, and continued our research. We read books, articles, watched videos, listened testimonials, and simply tasted milk.

What did we conclude? That not all milk is created equal.
Raw milk is similar to breastmilk. It's completely natural, fresh and unprocessed. They both contain a variety of essential nutrients, fats, proteins, anti-inflammatory and digestive enzymes, all in a natural form that is easily to digest.
Not only does raw milk contain greater amounts of vital vitamins and proteins, but pasteurized milk can be harmful to us as it causes many nutrient deficiencies.
Did you know that pasteurized milk is now known as one of the foremost allergenic foods?
Studies have also shown that it also reduces the bioavailability of calcium and phosphorus. It also reduces the presence of iron, copper, Vitamin A, B. C, and E. Pasteurized milk destroys the beta-lactoglobulin, which decreased intestinal absorption of Vitamin A and D. It completely destroys probiotics and inactivates beneficial enzymes.
What are some of the other effects of pasteurization? It kills the healthy bacteria that promotes immune system health. It also makes the milk more susceptible to contamination. It completely destroys Vitamin B6 and B12. It destroys lipase which impairs fat metabolism.
The dairy industry if very aware of this situation. They simply fortify their product with artificial version of the depleted vitamins.
Raw milk contains many types of beneficial vitamins and enzymes, yet the enzymes are inactivated by pasteurization.
But not all raw milk is created equal.

The best raw milk comes from farms that allow their cattle to graze on chemical free pastures and hay. They are rotated on fresh pastures and allowed plenty of sunshine and fresh air.
So what are the benefits of raw milk?
Digestion
Raw milk is much easier to digest that pasteurized milk. Many people who are lactose intolerant can digest raw milk without any problems. Raw milk contains living bacteria that helps produce lactase in the intestines.
Allergies
Some studies have shown that raw milk can decrease the risk of allergies, asthma, eczema, fevers, ear infections and respiratory infections.
Immune System
Raw milk can improve and strengthen the immune system. Some studies have proven that early exposure to farm allergens, like those found in raw milk, can help infants develop a stronger immune system.
Gut Health
Raw milk contains probiotics and enzymes that are great for the gut! The fat globules in raw milk can also benefit the gut by providing butyrate and butyric acids.
There are tons of beneficial probiotics in raw milk that are great for our health. It contains a living bacteria which facilitates the production of lactase enzyme in the intestine...which has been shown to help with lactose digestion in lactose intolerant people.
With all the evidence proving the impressive nutritional value of raw milk our family started the search to purchase "real" milk.
We joined a milk share and the addiction to all raw milk products began. We started drinking the delicious milk and soon started using raw milk coffee creamer, making raw milk yogurt and now making raw milk soap.
If you have your doubts about raw milk I want to encourage you to do your own research. And give it a try...you might love the creamy sweet milk. There is nothing like a cold glass of raw milk!
